Excursion (Action required!)

On Thursday, August 28, you are invited to join one of ten groups departing from the Vieux Lyon metro station at 14:00 (groups 1-5) or 16:00 (groups 6-10) for a historic and gourmet tour of Lyon’s most iconic neighborhoods.

Visit of the Vieux Lyon (Groups 1-3 and 6-8) — Discover the iconic landmarks and rich heritage of Vieux Lyon. Starting at St. John’s Square and Cathedral, wander through the charming pedestrian streets leading to St. Paul’s Square — along Rue St-Jean, Rue du Bœuf, Place Neuve St-Jean, Rue de Gadagne, and Rue Juiverie. Along the way, admire some of the district’s most emblematic buildings: the Pink Tower, Cour des Loges, the Gadagne Museum, and the Henri IV House. You will also make two gourmet stops — first, for something sweet at Ô Passage (G1,6), Duclef (G2,7), or Boulangerie Saint Paul (G3,8) (pralines 🍬); then, for a savory experience at Sirop de la rue St-Jean (G1,6; charcuterie 🐷), Crèmerie Lyonnaise (G2,7; cheese 🧀), or R’Wine & Food (G3,8; cheese 🧀 & charcuterie 🐷). The tour concludes with a stroll through Lyon’s famous traboules.

Visit of the northern part of Lyon Presqu'île (Groups 4, 5, and 9, 10) — Explore Lyon’s historic city center, the Presqu’île. This tour takes you through some of the city’s most emblematic squares: Place Bellecour, Place des Jacobins, Place des Célestins, and Place St-Nizier, before concluding at the majestic Place des Terreaux, home to the Museum of Fine Arts, the Hôtel de Ville’s grand façade, and finally the Lyon Opera House. Along the way, you will make two gourmet stops — first, for something sweet at Pain des Jacobins (G4,9; pralines 🍬) or Weiss (G5,10; chocolates 🍫); then, for a savory discovery at Crèmerie Saint Antoine (G4,9) or Yard (G5,10), both renowned fromageries 🧀.
